Millions of monarch butterflies flutter to the mountains in Mexico every October

In 1996, around one billion monarchs wintered there, but in 2013, a little less than 50 million monarchs traveled there.

FYI: the number of monarchs have been low… I also noticed the size of the monarch aren’t what they use to be. Every years they flock to my butterfly garden.. But not last year. I also noticed this with hummingbird too. I only get a couple.. Must be the cold.

I just came here to say, that yesterday, I watched about 100 flying due south. Seemingly in a single file line, not perfectly, but with about 30 yards spacing between each monarch. I have never witnessed a more beautiful and rare sight!
